House rental needed ASAP

As you may know, our neighbors on Barton Road, the Schultz/Stritch family, are in crisis. Their son Ari is at Children’s Hospital fighting for his life after a heart transplant earlier this month and their house needs to be torn down and rebuilt.

They are looking for a house rental and would love to stay in the area. They have 2 other young children as well (3.5 and 7 months). They are in need of at least a summer rental, but are willing to sign a 1 year lease.  Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

Dam update plus “lost and found”

The Lake Boon dam outfall boards were installed Friday so the lake will be gradually rising in the next few weeks to about 9″ above where it is now.

Does this paddleboard belong to you?

Also, a few items have been found, including…

…a small (probably kid-size) orange kayak, which arrived at 9 Dawes Road in the 3rd basin about a week ago. (Located beyond remnants of “floating island”/beaver lodge.) Info: call 978-562-6630.

…a green paddleboard which has been making the rounds in the second basin; it was seen in Monahan’s Cove last week and is now ashore at 33 Hale Rd. Contact Red at 978-793-0321.

Brief Lake Boon Commission Meeting on Thursday morning

The Lake Boon Commission will meet very briefly to confirm the dam board replacement date in a posted public meeting. Another LBC meeting is planned for Thursday, March 23 with a longer agenda to be announced later.

Red and white paddleboat found

There is a red and white paddle boat ashore at the Stow Town Beach. The owner can let us know if help is needed retrieving it, preferably in warmer, calmer weather.

With rising winds and soon, rising water levels, boats and accessories on the shore and docks are vulnerable to taking unplanned voyages. Be sure they are secure!

Boards going in, lake going up

With the ice gone, the Lake Boon Commission and Conservation Commission have directed the Stow Highway Department to install the boards in the dam outfall on March 10th, ending this winter’s drawdown.

This will bring the level up slowly, depending on rain, snow melt and ground water flow.

Last year it took approximately 2 months to reach the normal level which will be approximately 9″ higher than now. Be advised that time is limited to do any work on waterfronts at this low level.
