Register now for boater safety course beginning in April in Stow

The Stow Police Department is sponsoring a Boater Safety Class taught by the Environmental Police on April 3, 5, 10, and 12 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Stow Community Center, 509 Great Road (Route 117).

This course is open to all Massachusetts residents, and is taught at no charge. The primary purpose of the Boat Massachusetts course is to foster safe operation through increased awareness of required safety equipment, safe boating practices, and legal responsibilities.

All four sessions must be attended, and students must be at least 12 years of age. To register online, visit Look for the Stow Class ID (4174) to sign up.

Passing this course is required for youth 12 through 15 years of age in order to operate a motor boat without adult supervision. This course also satisfies the state requirements for personal watercraft users who are 16 or 17 years of age. All graduates will be issued a Safety Certificate. Taking the class as a family is encouraged and has proven to be highly rewarding.
